I recently watched a spring training game from 1998 when the Mets beat the Orioles, 5-1, on March 24. Rodriguez started for Baltimore and was mighty impressive, giving up just 1 run over 5 innings with 3 strikeouts against a Mets lineup that consisted of pretty much all starters. Later that season he was traded to Toronto, and would be selected off waivers by the Mets prior to the start of the 2000 season, only to be selected off waivers by the Red Sox two days later. The Mets signed him back for the 2001 season, and that's when he became one of the few in team history to gain the dubious distinction of holding an ERA of infinity, albeit at AAA Norfolk. He pitched in 1 game, gave up 2 hits without getting an out, and had both runners score when he was relieved. He never appeared for the franchise again, getting released on April 19.
