METS FANS SHARE THEIR MEMORIES OF THE JULY 6, 1984 GAME:

Second game of a Twi-night double header. Darling pitched a Gem in the 1st game, and we are looking for the sweep. Thru a friend of a friend, I was sitting behind the Cincy dugout. Maybe 10 or 15 rows back. I NEVER get seats like that. Well, it's a long night, Friday I think, the friend of the friend had left, but the game is tied and I'm staying. The Mets get a rally going in the last of the 9th, and a fight breaks out several rows behind me. I'm trying to watch the game, but everyone in front of me is standing to watch the fight. The Mets are about to sweep the Reds, I have great seats, and I can't see, because some a- holes can't hold their beer. I ended up running down the aisle, and stood right behind the dugout just in time to see Kelvin Chapman getting the game winning hit. As the Mets ran out to greet Chapman and the Reds walked off the field, people started asking me what happened. They didn't see it; they were watching the fight. Idiots.
