METS FANS SHARE THEIR MEMORIES OF THE APRIL 27, 2003 GAME:
April 30, 2003
Doubleheader sweep for the Diamondbacks. Randy Johnson came off the disabled list to strike out 12 in six innings to earn his first win of the year. With this win, the Diamondbacks finished their nine-game, three-city road trip with a winning record (5-4).
While this was a good day for the Diamondbacks, but a terrible day for the Mets. The Mets committed five errors in this game, giving them a total of eight errors made in the doubleheader. They struck out 27 times during the day, a major- league record for an 18-inning doubleheader. The Mets were swept by the Diamondbacks in a doubleheader at Shea Stadium for the second straight year.

My mom had never seen the Mets win in person. I bought tickets when Saturday's game got rained out, thinking that, hey, it's 2 games...they've gotta win at least one (the Mets owned Randy Johnson). She has never seen the Mets win in person to this day. She's been as close as 2 outs away, but she is cursed I guess.
