I remember going and just being so upset. Everybody wanted to get so excited and it was just a complete letdown. I couldn't believe this team allowed the Marlins to outperform them when they needed to win the most. They couldn't score more than 4 runs against an awful Marlins pitching staff, not to mention the fact that they surrendered 7. The Mets really better come back strong in 2008 to make up for this disaster. They are far and away the most talented team in the NL, they better prove it.

I stopped watching this game after the 4th inning. Partly because I was tired and partly because I didn't want to see the Mets relinquish 1st place to the Phils. I barely slept that night.

One key moment on this not-so-memorable night came in the third inning. The Marlins had the bases loaded when David Wright fielded a ground ball and threw to Paul Lo Duca for a force out at home. Lo Duca then threw back to Wright, who tried to tag the runner coming to third base. David, who should have just stepped on the base for a double play, missed the tag. This goof was followed by a pair of hit-by-pitches that forced home two Florida runs, both with two outs. Wright's failure to get the out on that play typified what the last two weeks of that season were like for the Mets. Not David's fault, of course. It was some kind of evil spirit that plagued the entire team.

Such comments, unless in the context of this particular game, will be considered off-topic and will be removed.

Example One
The Mets suck! They need to trade Smith and get somebody like Jones.
This comment is off-topic and will be removed. It has nothing to do with any specific game. But here's an acceptable alternative:

Example Two
The Mets suck! Smith made three errors in this game, and hit into a double play, and the Mets blew a 5-0 lead. They need to get rid of Smith and get somebody like Jones.
See the difference? Here you're getting the same point across, but it's in the proper context. We wouldn't consider this message to be off-topic, and we would let it remain.

We do appreciate anybody who takes the time to share their thoughts on our site, and we hate to remove anybody's postings. But if we didn't take steps to ensure that only on-topic messages were retained, The Ultimate Mets Database would become a confusing jumble of unrelated comments, and would thus be less enjoyable to visitors like you.
