Mets Get 16 Hits Off Marichal but Giants Win, 9-5
New York Daily News, June 16, 1968
In 1968, Juan Marichal pitched a complete-game win over the Mets, giving up 16 hits while doing so. This was clearly an era before pitch counts. At the time the Mets were approaching a .500 record for the first time in their history, and Bill Gallo has a strange cartoon of Gil Hodges wearing a hideous necktie.
