Dyar Miller is a friend of mine who I haven't done a good job of keeping in touch with over the years. I remember watching him pitching for the Mets in a game at Shea Stadium on television. I was lying on my bed when the bed started shaking. It turned out that there was an earthquake in my state. Dyar is a great guy and deserve all of the success he has had in baseball. As I understand it, he is now pitching coach for the Memphis AAA team.

I would go to the Mets games in the early 1980's with a friend that was considered the "class clown". During the 1980-81 seasons, every time Dyar Miller's name would be announced into the game in the middle innings, my friend would yell out as loud as he could: Oh, no..it's Dyar-rhea! Unfortunately, Miller would be true to his name and stink up Shea! He had a decent ERA, but that was because he gave up a hit with men on base put there by other Mets pitchers. I wonder what his game blown stats would hve been like had there been that category in the early 1980's.

My greatest memory of Dyar Miller was hearing Bob Murphy always say how he looked so much like Ray Sadecki. That same statement that was echoed by many of my friends at the time...ad-nauseum.

The man pitched in 54 games for the Mets and there's no picture of him? Interesting. I was not a huge Mets fan during the Grant's Tomb era, but I vaguely remember Miller as being a guy Torre turned to from time to time.
