December 20, 2000 Joe can always claim the distinction of being the first ever Binghamton Mets player to appear in a major league game!
April 12, 2001 I remember seeing him come through the minors and thinking how promising he was based on what he had done. He finally got a cup of coffee and then dissapeared. Amazing.
November 23, 2002 I watched Joe play little league ball in Ebensburg, PA. Later he played basketball at Division I St. Francis College before signing with the Mets. Too bad arm/elbow problems ended his career. He would have been a good one.

February 1, 2003 Joe Vitko is actually the first person born in the 70's to ever play for the Mets. I remember Bob Murphy pointing that out in his debut. Other than that I have little or no memory of him. I wonder what he is doing now. Woudn't that be something if we knew what all these "cup of coffee" major leaguers are doing now?
