HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Say what you want about Manzy, but he was one of the more enthusiastic Mets to ever wear a uniform. Remember how he always used to sprint off the mound when an inning was over?

It was equally thrilling for me to score a base hit of his in 1999--a 38-hopper in a May game victory against the Giants.

Manzanillo, pitching without "downstairs protection" in 1997 for Seattle, took a direct line drive off his "personal area," off the bat of Manny Ramirez.

I've never seen anything look more painful. Nothing.

I liked this guy's enthusiasm. He bounced off the mound after every inning. He really looked like he wanted to be out, like he loved being a major leaguer. I'm sorry things didn't really happen here, and even more sorry about his injury. Good for him for still being out there.

I met Josias when he played A ball for the Boston Red Sox. He was so young when he began playing here, I felt bad for him being so far away from home. The main thing I remember about Josias is how cute he was. I had a weak spot for Hispanic players, and his sense of humor. He was a really funny guy. I enjoyed watching him play and talking to him after the games.

I remember when Kirk Radomski testified to Senator George Mitchell that Manzanillo was the only player he ever witnessed taking steroids. Twenty-two years of Performance-Enhancing drugs, nice job, Josias.

To the person who posted above me: close but it was Julio Machado, another Met reliever, who liked to eat iguanas.
