I remember when the Mets acquired this top relief prospect from the Yankees. His Mets career flopped and was shuffled off to San Diego!! Where the heck did go????

My personal nickname for Draper was "Polly" after the actress from the TV show "thirtysomething." It got to the point that if I asked one of my friends who came into relieve Doc or Sabes, they'd reply,"Polly." That's how popular the name was in my circle.

Draper the pitcher lasted a little longer than the Broadway play Draper the actress was in (she was in ashow around this time that closed after a week). I do recall seeing Mike pitch the second game of a doubleheader against the Pirates in Aug., 1993. He was shelled after something like three innings, but the Mets won anyway.

One of the youngest-looking Mets I have ever seen. It's hard to believe he's almost forty-one.

I used to work with Mike Draper in a Port St.Lucie Fla. furniture warehouse that was 2 blocks from Mets stadium. He loved to sometimes tell stories from his playing days like how he told me that as a batter he once got a hit off of Greg Maddux.

He really missed being a part of Major League Baseball and being a New York Met.
