HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:
March 28, 2001 Hey isnt this the guy that Mike "The Hick" Hampton got to fly out to end the 2000 NLCS?
April 16, 2001 Yes, it was. This fellow also spent a week with the Mets in May 1998, before being released after the team acquired some other C from Florida. Pizza or something like that. At any rate, Wilkins was expendable, and got cut.
December 25, 2003 Wilkins hit 30 homers one year with the Cubs and never came close to that again. He kept bouncing around, team to team, living off that 30 homer season. One good year and teams think, "Mmmmm, if he did it once, he can do it again." Guess not.
