One of only two home runs I called in person immediately before the pitch, in the second game of a doubleheader against Milwaukee. The other was this Knight who hit a home run off some bum named Schiraldi

How do you bat over .300 one year for the Pirates and then come to the Mets and suck? He must be buddies with Bobby Boonilla.

There was one pitcher who Jermaine Allensworth owned: Omar Daal. At least a couple HRs, and hits as well.

I remember being pretty pumped when they got this guy because he hit over .300 with the Pirates the year before. Major disappointment in my eyes as he barely hit .200 with the Mets. And it was a light .200 at that. Traded away for Jin Nunnally, another waste of oxygen in a Mets uniform.

The day we got Allensworth from the Royals, Todd Pratt was supposed to start in left field for the first time in his career, but Allensworth got the start. It wasn't until the next year, in Arizona, that Pratt finally started a game in left field. And Allensworth homered that day.

I saw Jermaine in a diner in Long Island one day. He was eating by himself and reading the sports page. My friend hit him with a spit ball but Jermaine didn't even notice.

They teased the trade for him on the news, saying, "Mets make a deal," so I tuned in, to find out it was this guy. Great name, but not much of a player.I was annoyed more at the TV guys for hyping up this snoozer deal than at him.

This guy is a class act. Good ball player, but a great person.

The most vivid memory I have of Jermaine is him getting a key hit in that 9th inning comeback against Schilling in May of 1999.
