May 16, 2004 Lost in the storyline of today's game (5/16/04 vs. Houston) with the wonderful offensive heroics by Mike Piazza & Jason Phillips, was the great outing Matt Ginter had. He went up against great odds & kept the team in it. With a good umpire's call at 2nd base, he would have given up only one run. He should replace some other pitcher. Today, I think that he won himself a stay with the ML team!!
June 12, 2004 Is this guy snakebit or what? THREE TIMES, he was removed from games with a relatively healthy lead and THREE TIMES the bullpen blows it for him. Unfortunately, I scored two of those games (the Phillies loss in late May and the Marlins disaster on 5 June, and I had to hear it from a bunch of obnoxious Marlins fans wearing the old teal jerseys and batting helmets).
Fortunately, I did get to score his only Mets win against Colorado, and Looper nearly blew that one! Ginter's also a pretty good hitter and sports a great moustache. But I think the only way he's ever going to win a game for the Amazin's is if he pitches the entire contest.
October 10, 2004 After a very solid start as a starter he was beaten pretty badly in 6 or 7 in a row starts especially by the Yanks. Ginter was sent down did come back after Glavine was injured in a cab accident, and shut the Astros down then got hurt. I'd bet he'll be the long man out of the bullpen next year. Probably the worst fielding pitcher I've ever seen.
