Getting his first big league start tomorrow in the middle of a pennant race against the Brewers! Born on the day that the Mets won the 1986 World Series! Hopefully that's a good sign!

I did not watch the game tonight but listened to most of it on the radio. It sounded like the young was pretty dirty. Picked us up after that awful loss this afternoon.

Absolutely brilliant performance in his Shea debut in the night game of a doubleheader 9-13-08 to put us 2.5 up on the Phils. 8 shutout innings with the ninth done by supercloser Luis Ayala. Between Murphy, Pelfrey, Stokes and him it's looking good.

Another member of the Mets One-Hitter Club (along with, the guys who come most to mind right now, Aaron Heilman, Terry Leach, and Pete Schourek).

Has there been another nose like Niese's in Mets history? I think not.

Just a thought: in his last full start before going on the DL with a torn rotator cuff, he threw a hissy fit in the dugout because Terry Collins took him out of the game in the middle of an inning. From what I saw, he might have hurt his shoulder during his temper tantrum.

After being with the Mets from 2008-15, we say ADIOS to Jon as he was traded to the Pirates for 2B Neil Walker. Thanks for the great pitching and then some. And as a public service: Here is the Mets vs Pirates matchups for 2016: June 6-8 at PNC Park and then June 14-16 at Citi Field.
