Marsh was one of the nicest players you had. He had heart and he took every loss to heart and every win to heart also. He was a good man. Great ball player.

Played with Marshall with the Marion (Va.) Mets in the Appalachian League in 1975. He had a great summer that year and in the years after. In fact, I don't think he ever had a bad year in the years that I knew him. He got to AAA and hit a bottleneck. Back then the Mets were probably the worst-run team in the majors. They made moves that just made no sense. Marshall was finally traded to the Yankees and I lost track of him. As terrible as the Mets were in those days I think it is a crime that he never played in the bigs. An easy going guy with a great attitude.
