HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Rich was a good pitcher who died in a tragic drowning accident after the 1982 season. I think about him often and wonder what could have been...

I am Richard's younger sister. Baseball was his dream and I am so thankful that he was able to live a part of his dream before he died. I know in my heart that he had a great baseball career ahead of him. He not only was a great baseball player but a fantastic brother and son. We miss you Richard!

I played with Rich in Lynchburg in 1982. He was one of the nicest/classiest guys on the team. It was a tie between him and Jay Tibbs who threw the hardest and had a nasty 6/12 curve. Since I caught him in many of the earlier games of the season my fondest memory of his is the bone bruise I used to get catching him. His pitches seemed to just dig into your mitt. I never really got the chance to say goodbye. God Bless you Rich.
