HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:
April 6, 2012 He was the Yankee catcher in my all-time favorite Yankees games: Andy Hawkins's 1990 losing no-hitter. Hawkins pitched eight innings without giving up a single hit, only to lose 4-0 due to three errors and two walks in the eighth inning. No pitcher has ever given up no hits while losing so decisively. When it was all over, Geren and Hawkins briefly embraced in the dugout. Neither man smiled. How in the name of Harvey Haddix do you celebrate a losing no-no?
April 6, 2012 I only remember Bob as a catcher for the Yankees when they were lousy and the Mets weren't. That was New York City in its better days!
