I was dimly familiar with this man's name but had no recollection of his being in the Mets organization. After a little bit of digging, I found that he won the Casey Stengel Award as the Mets' top minor-league manager in 1982. He was bullpen coach in 1983. He replaced Bill Monbouquette, who became a scout. George Bamberger did double duty as manager and pitching coach, but after he left that June, Monbo returned as pitching coach.

After the '83 season, Davey Johnson came in with his own guys, and Dusan joined the Reds organization.

I remember Gene from our years together in grade school in Lakewood/Long Beach California. I knew from playing with Gene on the playground, mostly playing kick-ball, that Gene was way above average as an athlete. I am glad to see that he got to use his interest in sports in the later years of his life.
