"Baseball's Greatest Players" is still my favorite book. As a result I feel I know Christy Mathewson, Eddie Collins, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner etc., as well as subsequent luminaries. I think the copyright is around 1952. My grandmother gave it to me when I was a little kid. I still have it.

I think Tom Meany might have been the Giants beat writer in the 50's and/or 40's. It was before my time. I first became baseball aware in 1955. 7 years old.
