Was a native of Tennessee who managed the Mets AAA team in Buffalo when Marv Throneberry (also from Tennessee) was sent down to it in early 1963.

Farell played in MLB during WWII and then was a minor- league manager for many years - winning the award for minor league manager of the year three times - but not while in the Mets organization. He also served as a MLB coach but not with the Mets, and as manager of the Cleveland Indians for a year. Died at the age of 62 in 1975, the first ex-minor league manager of the Mets to pass away.
