December 30, 2006 FEH. This guy ruined a good team and turned it into garbage
August 28, 2007 I had to laugh when I reread Klapisch and Harper's "The Worst Team Money Can Buy" and read about Harazin giving the 1992 Mets a pep-talk. It was bad enough that relied on index cards. Even worse was his decision to quote from a Broadway musical song, something about never giving up the fight, overcoming the odds, etc.
I actually felt a little sorry for him. He was unqualified for the job, yet who could blame him for taking it on when Wilpon and Doubleday offered it to him? I bumped into him at the Scaradale train station in December of 1993. He knew that I knew who he was - I was wearing sports paraphernalia. I wanted to say, "Thanks for bringing Jeff Kent and Ryan Thompson to Shea," but he looked like he didn't want to talk, so I left him alone.
Harazin has not held a MLB job since the Mets fired him. Last I heard, he was teaching math at a private school.
