Phil Cavarretta was the only major leaguer who was active during the career of Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. Although since he kicked around as a coach and manager in the NL for a while he probably saw more of Hank Aaron than Babe Ruth, Cavarretta competed with Babe Ruth who was with the Boston Braves, Cavarretta's rookie year. By Aaron's rookie year Cavarretta was with the White Sox and never played against him.

When I was a little kid my father passed on to me his old first base mitt. It was a Phil Cavaretta autograph model from when Pa was growing up in the 40s. At the time I was about 8-9 years old and didn't know who the hell Phil Cavaretta was, though I found out later on. Once I got that mitt my baseball fate was sealed. Since I was the only kid with a first base mitt I was always stuck playing first base. Which wasn't bad coz a first baseman at least gets to stay busy. Thanks, Phil.
