One of the toughest losses of the 1994 season. A back and forth game played in the late afternoon of Pittsburgh, it seemed the Mets put it away with 4 runs in the 8th. But with Franco unavailable, Mike Maddux let the lead slip away in the 9th. And then, the seemingly ageless Alejandro Pena, who pitched for almost every team including the Mets, threw 4 dominant shutout innings in extras until the Pirates won on a walk off single
