Just when you thought the Mets bats MIGHT have actually started to wake up and the pitching settling down and going for a 4-game win streak, the Mets promptly go out and blow a 7-1 lead in the last 2 innings... unbelievable. just unbelievable. And to think they didn't even need the help of Benitez to blow this one! Can it get any worse? Oh wait, it can! The Mets go out the next day and get a couple in the top of the first and proceed to lose that one as well. When will it end?

Art, Art, Art. I know you managed in the AL, but everyone knows that a 7-run lead in Colorado is like having a 1 run lead at Shea. When you are in last place in the NL East and have the chance to put together a 4 game winning streak-YOU DO NOT DECIDE TO "GIVE THE KIDS IN THE BULLPEN SOME WORK" What is wrong with you? I went to bed that night and it was 7-0 in the 7th inning and I figured what could go wrong? When I woke up the next morning and saw the Mets lost 9-8 because of stupidity I couldn't believe it. Why didn't you leave Glavine in the game? He put some runners on base? So what? He probably would have won 7-2 or 7-4 and gotten a complete game.
I'm starting to think your winning record in Oakland was strickly because of the players you had and not because of your savvy managing skills. First you cause a Media Blitzkrieg in the locker room the other night on Piazza without talking to him beforehand (not that moving to first base was a surprise to him but you could have let him know you were going public with the idea) and now this.
Now it's your turn! Tell us what you remember of this game:
Please note:
We're looking for your comments about this specific
game. We've had people use this space to share their thoughts on how the
current season is going, or on ways that the Mets can improve the team.
Such comments, unless in the context of
this particular game,
will be considered off-topic and will be removed.
Example One
The Mets suck! They need to trade Smith and get somebody like
Jones.
This comment is off-topic and will be removed. It has nothing to do with
any specific game. But here's an acceptable alternative:
Example Two
The Mets suck! Smith made three errors in this game, and hit into a
double play, and the Mets blew a 5-0 lead. They need to get rid of Smith
and get somebody like Jones.
See the difference? Here you're getting the same point across, but it's in
the proper context. We wouldn't consider this message to be off-topic, and
we would let it remain.
We do appreciate anybody who takes the time to share their thoughts on our
site, and we hate to remove anybody's postings. But if we didn't take
steps to ensure that only on-topic messages were retained, The Ultimate
Mets Database would become a confusing jumble of unrelated comments,
and would thus be less enjoyable to visitors like you.
Thank you!
