Not gonna lie, every time I see Carrasco, I think he looks like he should be the leader of some Mexican drug gang or something. I think it's the facial hair.
Anyway, the 2021 Carrasco was awful and made the Lindor trade look all that much worse. However, I'm digging the 2022 edition so far. Even though he's not quite back to his 2015-2018 form, he's definitely holding his own and has proven to be an important cog on the club. As I write this, he has the best BB/9 and K/BB ratios on the starting staff this year.

When I think of Cookie, I think of a THC cookie, which is appropriate because his starts can be very good or very bad depending on the circumstances and surroundings. At his worst he is palatable, even if he induces a panic attack. At his best, he is quite delectable, enhancing the world with joy and positivity.

The rise and fall of Carrasco, and eventual unpersoning of him as a member of the team, reminds me of Oliver Perez. Perez went from 10-7, 4.22 in 2008 to 0-5, 6.80 in 2010. He was often seen but rarely used toward the end of his tenure with the club. Carrasco went from 15-7, 3.97 in 2022 to 3-8, 6.80 in 2023. He allowed 5 runs in his last start, suffered a convenient 'injury' in early September, and wasn't used again.
In just three years and 61 starts with New York, his career ERA went from 3.77 to 4.04.
I really liked his 2022 season, but he's been a letdown overall.
On the bright side, he did sign a card for me through-the-mail in 2011 care of the Indians; he didn't sign when I sent to him again in 2015.
