I remember getting his 1978 card and thinking what a strange name he had. Had a very good rookie year in 1977 for the Royals hitting .297 platooning in left field with the sweet-swinging Tom Poquette. Unfortunately both went a combined 1 - 15 against the Yanks in the AL Championship Series that year where the Royals lost a heart-breaker in 5 games. Not sure how the Mets got Zdeb. In January of 1980 the Royals traded him to the White Sox and he wound up playing with the Tidewater Tides hitting only .191 and that was it.
