Hit a grand slam off Masanori Murakami in approx. 1963 - 1st Japanese player signed by major league baseball. Jerry Gehrke May 8, 2008 Davie was my teammate in Salinas in 1964. He hit third, ahead of Hank McGraw and Gene Orf. Davie could not only hit, he did a great job with tough throws at first base. Despite being his teammate, I didn't know him real well but certainly respected his ability and his extreme professionalism.
