It's a surprise to me, after all these years, to see Steve Renko never actually pitched for the Mets. I had what I thought were memories of him pitching for them. Maybe it was in an exhibition game on TV when I was very young. Or maybe it was just seeing him in the Mets yearbook every year with Danny Frisella, Buzz Capra and Hank Webb, as one of their promising young pitchers of the future.
Renko turned out to be pretty good when he got to Montreal, and, with Bill Stoneman, gave the Expos half of a decent rotation for a first year club.
