One of those peoples who was behind the scenes literally for decades in the Mets front office. We heard his name frequently.

Mr. Richman was a very nice man. He used to hang out at Monte’s in Greenwich Village after his baseball days. He seemed to be most proud of his 2001 AL Pennant Championship Yankees ring.
Anyway, he was a good man, very friendly. He was the one to retrieve the Buckner ball. He was also the person who talked George Steinbrenner into hiring Joe Torre. I wish he had written a book. I’m sure he had countless stories of NY baseball that would enthrall us all.

I was the Window Display director of Herman’s Sporting Goods NYC. I was asked to make a window display at the New York Convention Center across from Grand Central Station on 42nd Street. We arranged that my payment would be 20 box seats. I would meet him at Shea Stadium and be given many well known players' bats and gloves. I did this for some years.
My dealing with him was extremely pleasant. One of the most genuinely nice people I’ve met. To this day I remember his demeanor.
