This article is a must-read for all Mets fans, young and old. It mentions the backgrounds of the legendary three-man broadcast crew the team would have for seventeen seasons. The words under the photo point out that Lindsey, Ralph and Bob covered the Mets on television and radio. They interchanged between the two media sources, which was common practice at that time. Announcers today work on either one or the other, but not both.

The story states that Murphy came to New York after a few years in Boston and Baltimore. I once heard that Bob was hired for the Mets job based on his call of Roger Maris's 60th home run in 1961, which came against the Orioles. Also, I found it interesting that Nelson had shared a booth with Leo Durocher. The fact that Durocher argued with the network president and didn't stay around isn't surprising. That sounds like something Leo would do.
