METS FANS SHARE THEIR MEMORIES OF THE JUNE 10, 2008 GAME:
June 11, 2008
I really do not know what to make of the 2008 Mets. After a 10-game span where they went 7-3, they follow it up with 5 losses in a row (4 to a bad Padres team without having to face Peavy, Young, or Maddux). The team just can't seem to get anything going consistently. When they pitch well they don't hit and when they hit well they don't pitch. Not surprisingly in this game they got out to a 5-1 lead on Arizona and the bats went to sleep. Arizona was able to come back and win the game. We see this way too much with the Mets: they get a lead and they sit on it depending on starting pitching that is inconsistent and a bullpen that cannot be trusted. I hate to say it but maybe this is what they are, a .500 caliber team. Maybe Omar Minaya should consider trading away some of the veteran talent like Wagner and Beltran to get young major league ready prospects in return. Build that team around Johan, Wright and Reyes. Even if the Mets turn it around I am not sure if they have a good enough team to compete with the Cubs, Phillies, or D-Backs. I am not giving up on this team I am just being realistic.
Now it's your turn! Tell us what you remember of this game:
