October 15, 2002 This guy threw some wicked heat but had no control. Too bad.

April 4, 2005 Hinsley was one of those first year bonus baby/draftees that had to stay on the roster. The Pirates didn't let him or his brother, a catcher play in the minors so no one would notice them and draft them. Well, the Mets did anyway. If I remember correctly, he threw a pitch into the stands from the mound (can anyone confirm?). He also pitched one of those miracle shutouts in Strat-o-Matic in a particularly fun '64 reply (you Strat fans, which include Keith Hernandez and Howie Rose know what I mean). I'm still waiting for him, Lloyd Flodin and Wilbur Huckle to come up and star for the team.
June 1, 2008 Jerry Hinsley is already the answer to an important Mets Trivia question, and about to become the "bookend" answer as Shea Stadium nears its end.
Hinsley was the 1st player ever to make his major league debut at Shea Stadium (the same day as Billy Wakefield, but Hinsley appeared in the game first).
Of course in September some call-up will become the final player to make his ML debut on Shea's turf.
August 11, 2015 First Met teenage pitcher and second Met teenager after Ed Kranepool.
