June 25, 2002 If I'm not mistaken, I was at the Mayor's Trophy game in 1967 at Yankee Stadium, and Sullivan hit a home run. That was probably his highlight as a Met.
May 30, 2003 Sullivan was a former Tiger. A left handed hitter I recall he hit a clutch home run in the first game of a doubleheader with the Mets against the Cardinals in 1967 against Dick Hughes.
February 21, 2004 John is my great cousin of mine and the first time I met him he gave me a bat that had his autograph burned into it. That was 25 years ago and I still have that bat. Great guy who has one heg of a autograph baseball collection from pitchers he faced and played with in his career.
September 27, 2005 He was a '67 teammate of pitcher Jack Lamabe. On the all-time Thick Eyebrows team, they could (and should) form the battery.
November 3, 2006 He didn't have much of a career, but being a high- number card, his 1967 Topps card (a good one) is expensive (as is his 1966 card, when he was with the Tigers).
January 30, 2012 John was a Met for only one season of his career, but he does have a special claim in team history. He was the Mets' catcher for Tom Seaver's first game with at least ten strikeouts. On July 19, 1967, Seaver struck out 12 batters with John behind the plate as the Mets beat the Astros. It was Seaver's only double-digit strikeout game of his Rookie of the Year season.
