HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Jackson Todd to me was the very symbol of futility of the post-Seaver 1977 Mets. I recall that in one game he was throwing a 6-inning no-hitter or something like that, only to come apart and lose the game. It was so sad.

I remember that he was or is a cancer survivor.

He was and is a cancer survivor, having encountered the disease as a Met minor-leaguer.

Interestingly, the best minor-league season for young Jackson was while playing for.. Jackson.

He would go on to have some modest success as a reliever with the early Toronto teams.

He stands with Anderson Hernandez, Brady Clark, and Tucker Ashford as last name-first name Mets.

I met Jackson in 1974. He was the roommate of my soon to be step dad in Victoria TX where he pitched for the AAA Victoria Toros. My soon to be step dad was the JV baseball coach at the high school He was very kind to my brother and I.He would come over and play catch or wiffle ball in the back yard sometimes. I was just a kid about 11 and I cried when we were told he had cancer.

We moved to Houston later that year and I collected baseball cards... There he was! Jackson beat the cancer and made the bigs for the Mets!

Not sure what compelled me to google his name after all this time, I hope he is doing well.

Thanks for the information about him.

I have always been a huge Mets fan. My dad and I went to games at Shea Stadium very often. When I was around 12, I learned of Jackson Todd’s story and found it tremendously inspiring. Being an aspiring artist, I sketched a portrait of him and wrote him a letter telling him how much he influenced my life (ironically my dad would die of cancer some years later). He wrote me a personal letter and the next time we went to a game, he actually made arrangements for us to meet him and he signed my portrait and spent time with us. I will never forget how gracious and genuine he was to a little fan girl. I always think of that experience fondly and wish him well. Even though he didn’t attain “Hall of Fame “ status, he will always be a superstar to me.
