One of my favorite Mets memories because I think it's the first Mets win I ever attended. mike Michela November 19, 2001 I was at that game too. A solid single up the middle. Mets Win Larry Burns June 22, 2002 Ross had one stinken RBI, but it won a game so that was pretty cool. But what I really remember is that he was the faceless extra thrown into the Sid Fernandez deal. I cannot believe we got EL Sid for Bailor and Carlos Diaz, but then the Dodgers actually threw this guy in. What a terrible trade for the Dodgers. Unless they knew how much he sucked and made us take him with Sidney. Mike Friedman March 4, 2004 He was Steve Sax's keystone partner in the Dodgers' system but, unlike Steve, never really made it Mark Simon October 18, 2004 FYI, I did a story for the October '04 NY Mets Inside Pitch on several obscure Mets, including Jones. He is a good interview. He remembered his one Mets hit vividly (it was a double into the left center gap), and now works as a grip on various movies, tv shows and commercials. Check it out if you get the chance. Jack Waslin February 20, 2020 As in 1969 the '84 Mets had a Jones (Ross) and a Martin (Jerry) on the roster. I always thought it was no coincidence that Charlie Samuels issued # 21 to Ross (like Cleon) and # 9 to Martin (like JC).
