Andy from Rego Park
February 22, 2002 Possibly the least famous member of the '86 Mets. I wonder how much of a World Series share they voted him.
April 22, 2002 I believe he was hired as insurance in case Keith Hernandez got suspended for substance abuse as a result of the "Pittsburgh 7" drug trials.
April 24, 2002 It's strange how time messes with your memory. I remember hating this guy thinking he was done careerwise but I can't believe he had only 7 ABs for the Mets. I would have thought it was more. I knew he wasn't around all season but 7 ABs is nothing.
March 17, 2003 Since I'm a student of 19th century baseball, I liked Tim for the simple reason that he had the same last name as Larry Corcoran, who pitched back in the 1880s and who hurled three no-hitters.
Tim, meanwhile, had seven no-hit at-bats for the Mets. And Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy...
July 13, 2004 Maybe the ultimate 1986 New York Mets trivia question.
I didn't remember he was on the '86 Mets until I read "The Bad Guys Won," and then the memory popped into my head. They did basically get him in case Keith Hernandez was going to be suspended or jailed because of the cocaine case.
I guess they won't invite him to any Old-Timer's Days...
July 21, 2007 He should have been given a chance with the Mets. He was better than Keith Hernandez. He was an awesome hitter with the Tigers and Phillies and with very soft hands at first base. It's a shame the Mets gave up on him so fast.
May 12, 2010 GS - Tim Corcoran better than Keith Hernandez? Are we talking about the same Tim Corcoran?
