murphy Pretty good outfielder for the Astros, but Bass was a fourth outfielder at best by the time he reached Flushing.
September 10, 2002 If only Marty Barrett had made it to Flushing in 1992! Bobby Bonilla made the last out of the regular season in 86. Chico Walker made the last out of the division clincher against the Cubs. And of course Bass did the honors in the NLCS. 3 of the 4 most significant outs in 86 were in blue and orange in 92!
January 21, 2003 Bass was a good outfielder in his days as an Astro. It's a shame the Mets got him when he was washed up.
June 18, 2004 Talk about the "Unknown Soldier!"
When the Mets acquired him in 1992 from the San Francisco Giants, even the sports editors didn't care about his arrival!
I think he was just about at the end of the line when he reported to Shea Stadium.
September 27, 2004 How can you not love Kevin Bass after that classic 'whiff' in the Dome VS Jesse?
July 21, 2005 Kevin did an excellent Sammy Davis Jr. routine. If Cooperstown had an Impersonation Wing, Kevin would be a first-ballot guy.
November 6, 2005 Didn't come to the Mets until August 8th of '92 and still led the team in triples with a whopping total of 2! We really burned up the basepaths that year.
October 19, 2007 "...the dangerous Kevin Bass" ha....I love that '86 recap video
August 11, 2015 More memorable for things he did (and did not do!) as an Astro than as a Met, but I second the remark about his skill at impersonations - the Keith Jackson one they aired before game 3 of the 86 NLCS is side-splitting
