HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:
April 27, 2005 I was hoping this guy would stick but, with a mediocre history at best and a great spring training, he pitched poorly and is now history. These guys have a short leash and since he was only a marginal player to begin with, no big loss although I could see him coming back and haunting the Mets down the road.
May 9, 2005 Matthews wasn't released, he was designated for assignment. He just accepted his demotion to AAA and is currently with Norfolk, with a chance at coming back to the Mets.
February 8, 2006 I guess he won't be coming back. He didn't pitch again in the bigs last year and hasn't signed on with anyone.
