HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Randolph keeps putting Newhan in as a pinch-hitter, but as of May 15 he's batting three for 23 (.143). It's probably time to look to someone else.

I would have to say that this guy is the worst bench player they have had in recent memory. He adds nothing to the team. He's starting today against the Cubs, and I can't understand why. He really sucks. How horrible are our minor leagues if this is the best outfielder that they have after Gomez got hurt. Pathetic.

UGH! This guy looks like Kurt Russel! I wish he WOULD escape from New York. The other day he actually got a hit and I almost fell off of my seat. This guy is AWFUL!

I watched this fellow play the last exhibition game between the Mets and the Dodgers at Hollman Stadiam in Vero Beach. I was impressed. I think he had four hits that day. I know he hit one out. I loved his swing. I was hoping that he would get a chance to play. I know a player wants to be in the Big Leagues, but, you need to play, especially if you are young.

It seemed to me that Wilie Randolph liked what he saw.

I think he could have been a decent bat off the bench if he was given a few starts earlier in the year to get his swing down. I would have liked to have seen a bit more pop in his bat, but he's a decent player. I just don't think he was ever given a few days to string some at bats together. I'd give him another look next spring.
