I've always been a big fan of "The Chef", hope he serves up some home cookin' with the Mets!

I don't agree with signing Sheffield. He's definitely over the hill, probably can't play well in the field, and has always seemed to me (and I may be wrong) to be kind of a thug. Signing him does nothing to bolster the confidence of guys like Church and Murphy, who have a future with the Mets, unlike Sheffield.

Was at the 4-27 Marlins game, watched him struggle to reach seats in BP, muffed a routine can of corn in LF, then ripped RBI single and 390 ft screamer that was hauled in by a fleet moving Cody Ross. Jury is out but he is not a bench player. Needs at bats to get into a groove, especially at this age. Murph is the real deal but a horrible OF. Maybe send him down for a month and learn 2b while Sheff gets 20 games under his belt. This platoon of Church, Tatis, Murphy, Sheffield may be a detriment to all involved.

Another ancient player the Mets decided to bring in here. Same mentality all the time for this franchise. He has, and will contribute nothing.

Can the Mets just release him now, please? There was no reason to sign him in the first place, and he has done nothing as a player.

Gary's carrying the team! With Delgado out, we really need Chef to keep hitting.

HATE.My most-hated Met ever "by a WIDE margin" as the Murph used to say. Nasty, cancerous, race-bating, hateful thug. In other words, a perfect signing for Omar Minaya. What an ugly period the tenure of this thug was, and that's saying a lot, given the 50 years of failure we've endured watching this mess.
