I watched Mike at the Mets' game against the Diamondbacks on Aug. 13 at Chase Field, and Mike was the Mets' best performer that day. He singled and later scored in the second inning, and hit a triple deep to center field in the fourth inning to drive in a run and subsequently scored on a single by Mets' pitcher Mike Pelfrey.

It was noted on the scoreboard that Mike is from Queens and graduated from a high school only five miles from Citi Field. It is good to see a local guy make it with the Mets, and I wish a long and successful career with his hometown team.

As inspirational a story as the Mets have ever had, a local guy who saved the greatest regular season Mets game ever. I just hope he didn't get too hurt on that catch. Oh, and by the way, he has been clutch so far in 2012, getting many big hits and playing great OF. This season is going MUCH better than I thought it would, and Baxter is a big reason why.

Mike Baxter's catch in the 7th inning of Johan Santana's No Hitter, will be forever remembered as one of the best catches in Mets history. He hurt his shoulder and will be out for at least 6 weeks. Hope you come back strong Mike, we need ya!

When a young man pursues a career in baseball, they wish first to just get that chance to put on the Uniform. Once they are there, they hope for a moment they can remember forever, and then they hope for the ultimate, a career in the bigs. Mike Baxter.... we ALL hope you heal and get that career, however many years it proves to last. But for now, you have achieved 1 and 2. You will be a part of Mets lore FOREVER. The words no-hitter and Santana won't be summoned up without the name Baxter. Thanks for the effort and the result.; your season so far has made you a fan fave already, your performance on June 1 2012 has made you a local legend. Congratulations and get well soon. Major league baseball needs you on the field!

Baxter grew up a Mets fan and plays the game so hard you can see in his eyes he wants nothing more than to see the Mets win. He is a winner! It was evident when he made the great catch during Johan's No No!!

Made the Dodgers roster and played in the landmark 2 game series in Sydney, Australia vs the Diamondbacks. Btw, Baxter and Justin Turner come to Citi Field in April 2014 wearing Dodger blue.
