Jack- Floral Park, NY
January 4, 2010 I drove from Long Island to Little Falls, NY to see the NY-Penn League club. Luis was a good player, not great. He was however very smart and knew the game inside out. I went back to my local friend's house (Lori and Don) after a game and we discussed the arts of hitting and fielding for hours. English was his second language. Nonetheless he was articulate in the language and made great sense. I later met him at Kennedy Airport for a bite to eat before he went home to the DR after the season. He was so proud to be carrying a trophy of merit issued by the team. I can't remember what exactly for.
I think Luis went on to have a career in the Mets front office as a scout and minor League instructor. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving fellow. Way to go, Luis!
