When he was drafted, he was supposed to be this amazing power hitter but his greatest contribution ended up being that he netted us Rico Brogna.

Alan was a #1 draft pick of the Mets out of the University of Arizona. Coming from the college ranks, I thought he'd be playing for them within the next two years. The team had Todd Hundley being groomed as an upcoming catcher and Alan's path to New York was blocked. He never had a real chance with the Mets and didn't reach the major leagues until he was 34 years old.
